Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall reopens in Istanbul after renovations
The Cemal Reşit Rey (CRR) Concert Hall in Istanbul has officially reopened following extensive renovation works coordinated by IBB Miras. The restoration, which began in the summer of 2025, focused on preserving the building's original architectural texture and acoustic system while modernizing its electrical, mechanical, and plumbing infrastructure. Updates also included improved fire and disaster safety, climate control, lighting, automation, and technical stage equipment.
The 2026-2027 season commenced with an opening concert featuring the CRR Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Adrian Prabava, accompanied by Spanish tenor Airam Hernandez. The performance included works by Rossini, Verdi, Donizetti, Bizet, Puccini, and Sorozabal, as well as Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D Major.
During the opening ceremony, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan emphasized the hall's importance to Istanbul's musical memory and the cultural legacy of the Republic. The event was attended by various municipal officials and representatives of the Cemal Reşit Rey family.
