Cemento PANAM acquires Cementos Fortaleza in El Salvador

Cemento PANAM, a subsidiary of the Dominican conglomerate Grupo ESTRELLA, has announced the acquisition of Cementos Fortaleza in El Salvador. This move expands the company's footprint in the Central American and Caribbean construction materials market to a third country, following its existing operations in the Dominican Republic and Panama, where it operates under the Cemento BAYANO brand.

The transaction includes the production plant located in Acajutla, which has an installed annual capacity of 350,000 tons of cement. While the specific purchase price was not disclosed, the deal received financial backing from the Banco Latinoamericano de Comercio Exterior (BLADEX), Banco de América Central (BAC), and Global Bank.

Giuseppe Maniscalco, president of the Industrial Division of ESTRELLA, stated that entering the Salvadoran market is a significant step in the company's regional expansion strategy. Grupo ESTRELLA has a 43-year history and maintains a presence in 16 countries across the region, with interests spanning infrastructure, real estate, energy, and steel production.
