Cemeteries in Frontera and Melilla prepare for upcoming religious holidays

Local authorities in Frontera, Mexico, and Melilla, Spain, are preparing their respective cemeteries for upcoming religious and cultural observances.

In Frontera, Mayor Sara Irma Pérez Cantú has initiated comprehensive maintenance at the Dolores cemetery to ensure dignified spaces for families during the Day of the Dead celebrations in November. Municipal workers are conducting weeding, debris removal, and general cleaning of common areas and walkways. The initiative includes identifying risk points and improving pedestrian access to accommodate the expected influx of citizens.

In Melilla, preparations for All Saints' Day at the La Purísima Concepción cemetery are scheduled to intensify following a royal visit. Vice-counselor of the Environment, Cucho Villena, noted that while maintenance is ongoing, full-scale efforts will resume around October 15. The city aims to have the site ready for the traditional November 1 visits, when families gather to clean graves and honor deceased relatives.
