Cemil Tugay's political future addressed by CHP spokesperson

Republican People's Party (CHP) spokesperson Müslim Sarı has addressed speculation regarding whether İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay will rejoin the party. Tugay, who resigned from the CHP on June 18, currently serves as an independent mayor.

Following a Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting in İzmir, Sarı stated that the party has not made any official evaluation or decision regarding Tugay. He noted that there is significant misinformation surrounding the matter and emphasized that Tugay must first clarify his own political position.

Sarı highlighted several potential paths for Tugay, including continuing as an independent, joining the Yeni Parti, returning to the CHP, or establishing relations with another political entity. He added that there has been no request for a meeting from Tugay, making such a discussion unlikely at this stage.
