Cengiz Holding faces ongoing tax investigation in Turkey

Cengiz Holding, a major recipient of public tenders during the AKP era, is reportedly undergoing a comprehensive tax investigation. According to journalist Bahadır Özgür, the audit began in June 2025 and covers the period from 2019 to 2025. The investigation extends to Eti Bakır AŞ and Cengiz İnşaat, with inspectors requesting extensive records including profit distributions, board decisions, and financial statements.

Reports indicate that the investigation has remained unresolved for a year. In July 2026, the audit's jurisdiction was unexpectedly transferred from the Istanbul Sectoral 1 Audit Department to the Ankara Sectoral 1 Audit Department. This shift in oversight, combined with the prolonged duration of the probe, has raised questions regarding the investigation's progress and direction.
