Cenipa investigation into Acre plane crash reaches 65% completion

Three years after a Cessna Caravan aircraft crashed in Rio Branco, Acre, the investigation by the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) remains ongoing. The probe has reached 65% completion, though progress slowed significantly with only a 5% advancement in the last year.

The accident occurred on October 29, 2023, when the aircraft, registration PT-MEE, crashed into dense forest shortly after departing Rio Branco International Airport. The impact caused an immediate explosion, killing all 12 people on board, including the pilot, co-pilot, ten passengers, and an infant.

Technical investigators are currently analyzing wreckage structures, engine and flight control systems, maintenance records, and human factors such as crew training and fatigue levels.
