Centaurus Metals identifies 21 copper and gold targets in Pará
Australian mining company Centaurus Metals has identified 21 new potential copper and gold exploration targets in the Carajás region of Pará, Brazil. The findings result from a geological survey covering approximately 75 square kilometers near major Vale mineral operations.
Of the identified targets, eight are located in the Rio Novo area and 13 in Boi Novo. The company reported significant sample concentrations, including up to 17.2% copper and 14.3 grams of gold per tonne in the Solimões area, and up to 45 grams of gold per tonne in Juruá. Additionally, two potential copper mineralization corridors, each roughly five kilometers long, were identified.
The survey involved collecting over 4,500 soil samples alongside geophysical surveys and geological mapping. While these results have helped select priority areas for new drilling, they do not yet confirm economically viable deposits. The next phase will involve drilling to verify the continuity and depth of the mineralization. The project site is located approximately 30 kilometers from Parauapebas and is in close proximity to Vale and CoreX industrial facilities, which may offer logistical advantages.
