Centenarians celebrated in Kentucky and Indiana

Two women in the United States are celebrating their 100th birthdays with community honors.

In Franklin County, Kentucky, Jean Rogers marked her milestone at Spring Arbor Senior Living. Rogers, a lifelong resident of the county, was joined by family and local officials, including Franklin County Sheriff Dwayne Depp and Judge-Executive Michael Mueller. Mueller presented Rogers with a joint proclamation on behalf of himself and Frankfort Mayor Layne Wilkerson, recognizing her strength and role as a source of wisdom in the community.

In Indianapolis, Indiana, Wilma Shea celebrated her 100th birthday at the Rustic Root Tea Room in Beech Grove. The event honored her 13-year career as an executive secretary at the American Legion National Headquarters. Representatives from the Indianapolis Fire Department attended to honor her late husband, Captain Joe Shea, presenting her with items from his personnel file, including identification badges and photographs. Firefighters from IFD Station 46 also arrived in a fire truck to participate in the celebration.
