Center Guwien Giebreel Joins Turkish Club Besiktas After Leaving Bayern Munich
South Sudan‑born 29‑year‑old center Guwien Giebreel, who previously played for Panathinaikos, signed a two‑year deal with Turkish basketball club Besiktas following his departure from Germany’s Bayern Munich. Giebreel moved to Bayern in the summer of 2025 after a stint in Greece but struggled to secure a regular spot, averaging 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 17.3 minutes over 72 official games.
Besiktas, preparing for a return to the EuroLeague, announced the signing as part of a broader roster overhaul that also includes several other Turkish and foreign players. The move comes as Bayern Munich reshapes its front‑court, having added players like Ostin Waiili and Johannes Timan while parting ways with veterans such as David McCormack and Elias Harris.
