Centerpartiet proposes new migration policies for Sweden

The Swedish Center Party has announced several migration policy pledges as part of its election campaign, aiming to increase Sweden’s attractiveness to researchers, students, and entrepreneurs. The party proposes abolishing the current wage floor for labor immigration and introduces a specific startup visa. Additionally, the party is calling for a billion-kronor investment to attract AI researchers and entrepreneurs to the country.

Leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist and migration spokesperson Niels Paarup-Petersen stated that the party seeks to restore Sweden’s appeal, arguing that current policies have negatively impacted the economy. They noted that the decrease in labor immigration between 2022 and 2025 has resulted in an estimated 30 billion SEK in lost economic value and 10 billion SEK in lost tax revenue. The party also stipulates that permanent residence permits should not be revocable or convertible to temporary status as a condition for forming a new government.
