Central African Republic military conducts air strikes in northeast border region
The Central African Republic Ministry of Defense announced that its military conducted preemptive air strikes and coordinated ground operations against armed groups in the Vakaga prefecture. The operations took place in the northeast of the country, within the ‘three borders’ zone where the Central African Republic, Chad, and Sudan meet.
According to official statements, the military acted on intelligence indicating an imminent and violent attack against Central African Armed Forces positions. The ministry attributed the threat to foreign mercenaries, though specific nationalities were not disclosed. The military claims that hostile elements were neutralized and that the situation is currently stable and under control.
These operations were carried out in coordination with Russian military specialists. While the military reports successful neutralization of threats, no specific human or material casualty figures have been independently verified. The region remains highly unstable due to ongoing armed group movements and the spillover effects of the conflict in Sudan.
