Central American football clubs face financial and legal disputes

Football clubs in Central America are facing significant administrative and financial challenges. In Honduras, Juticalpa FC officials have denied reports circulating on social media claiming that FIFA has imposed a three-year ban on player signings. Club director Julio César Dos Santos Jr. clarified that while there is an ongoing legal dispute involving player Luis Orlando Hurtado Cuesta, the club has not received any official notification of a sanction.

In El Salvador, the professional squad and coaching staff of Club Deportivo FAS have publicly denounced two months of unpaid salaries. Spokesperson Nelson Bonilla stated that the situation has reached a “limit point,” noting that players have continued to compete despite the economic delays. In response, the Licensing Committee of the Salvadoran Football Federation (FESFUT) has ordered the FAS board to present original payroll documents or bank statements to certify payments by October 6, 2026.
