Central American Torch travels through Honduras and Nicaragua
The Central American Torch of Peace, Liberty, and Democracy is currently making its regional tour to commemorate the anniversary of Central American independence. The torch has traveled through several departments in Honduras, including the capital, Tegucigalpa, where it was received by municipal authorities and the Armed Forces.
On September 10, the torch officially entered Nicaragua through the Las Manos border crossing in the Nueva Segovia department. It was handed over by Honduran education officials to Nicaraguan authorities in a ceremony involving students and local leaders. The torch is being carried by high-achieving students and athletes across various Nicaraguan departments, including Nueva Segovia, Madriz, Estelí, Matagalpa, and Managua.
The symbolic flame is scheduled to complete its journey through Nicaragua and be officially handed over to Costa Rican authorities at the Peñas Blancas border crossing on September 13.
