Central American Torch enters El Salvador from Guatemala

The Central American Torch of Peace and Liberty has entered El Salvador from Guatemala, marking the beginning of its journey through the country as part of the 205th anniversary of independence celebrations.

The official handover took place at the El Jobo bridge over the Paz River at the Las Chinamas border in Ahuachapán. El Salvador’s Minister of Education, Karla Trigueros, received the flame from Guatemala’s Vice Minister of Education, Francisco Cabrera.

Following the ceremony, students from local educational centers began carrying the torch. The flame is scheduled to travel through major streets, plazas, and communities across El Salvador before being handed over to authorities in Honduras to continue its route through the isthmus. The event serves as a regional symbol of unity and integration among Central American nations.
