Central Asian nations announce major road infrastructure projects

Turkmenistan has authorized contracts for the design and construction of a 546-kilometer highway connecting Ashgabat and Dashoguz. The project, signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov as part of the country’s Socio-Economic Development Program for 2022–2028, also includes the construction of an 812-meter-long road bridge and the modernization of existing bridges along the route.

In Tajikistan, TajikGidroElectromontaj OJSC (TGEM) has signed a contract to build the 51.4-kilometer Sayidon-Labidjar road along the left bank of the Rogun reservoir. The project is being funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) with the state-owned Directorate of the Rogun Hydropower Plant Flood Zone acting as the customer. The construction, scheduled to take three years, aims to improve transport links between settlements in the reservoir area and support the development of the Rogun hydropower plant region.
