Central Bank of Argentina accumulates over US$ 14,000 million in 2026

The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA) has accumulated more than US$ 14,000 million in dollar purchases during the first eight months of 2026. This follows 22 consecutive days of positive balances in the foreign exchange market, including a US$ 82 million acquisition on Friday.

Since the implementation of the fourth phase of the monetary program in January under Santiago Bausili, the authority has incorporated a total of US$ 14,049 million into its reserves. Although the pace of absorption slowed in August with a contribution of US$ 722 million, the entity has already exceeded its annual accumulation target range of US$ 10,000 million to US$ 17,000 million.

Gross international reserves stood at US$ 49,791 million, following a daily decrease of US$ 1,069 million. Market sources indicate this decline is a routine month-end accounting adjustment related to bank reserves and balance sheet closures, rather than a real loss of foreign currency. Gross reserves had previously reached a peak of US$ 50,912 million earlier in the week, the highest level during the administration of President Javier Milei.
