Central Bank of Montenegro receives international award in Paris
The Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG) has received an international award for its efforts in the economic empowerment of women. The recognition was presented on October 1 at the WE Finance Code Global Forum in Paris.
The award highlights CBCG’s success in developing a model to improve the availability of data regarding the financing of women-owned enterprises. This initiative aims to establish a reliable, public basis for tracking access to finance, identifying barriers, and creating targeted financial products and policies.
Montenegro joined the WE Finance Code initiative in June 2024 through a memorandum of cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The national initiative, officially presented in March 2025, is coordinated by CBCG with support from the EBRD and the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management. A national coalition of 28 institutions, including banks, microfinance institutions, and public agencies, participates in the program. Signatories of the initiative account for 93 percent of the country’s banking assets.
