Central Bank of Nigeria officials call for policy alignment and resilient governance

Economic experts and officials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are emphasizing the need for improved monetary policy alignment and stronger corporate governance. Dr. Ayo Teriba, CEO of Economic Associates, has urged the CBN to align its interest rates with prevailing market conditions. He advocated for a single, credible interest rate that reflects market realities and called for greater transparency regarding net reserves and money supply.

Separately, CBN Deputy Governor for Economic Policy, Philip Ikeazor, has called for a shift in corporate governance. Speaking at a Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria event, Ikeazor emphasized that governance should move beyond mere regulatory compliance toward building resilient, accountable, and transparent institutions capable of navigating complex economic and technological challenges.
