Central Bank of Sudan extends customer data update deadline

The Central Bank of Sudan has extended the deadline for customers to update their banking information until the end of 2026. This decision follows significant crowding at bank branches in Khartoum and several other states as customers rushed to comply with previous deadlines.

The update requirement is part of a regulatory effort to comply with international standards for combating money laundering and terrorism financing. The central bank has directed commercial banks to implement technical systems capable of continuous transaction monitoring and detecting unusual patterns to enhance financial sector transparency.

While many banks have already completed the update process, others are still working through it. The bank noted that the update process is a standard regulatory procedure intended to protect public deposits and ensure the safety of customer funds. As part of a digital transformation initiative, the bank is also working on integrating the ‘SudaPass’ digital identity for these updates.
