The Central Bank of The Bahamas has denied social media rumors claiming that a major local bank is facing imminent sanctions from the United States. The regulator clarified that these allegations are misleading and lack credibility, assuring depositors that the national financial system remains stable and fully operational.

The rumors appeared to stem from U.S. Treasury Secretary statements regarding potential sanctions against unnamed financial networks supporting the Iranian government. However, the Central Bank emphasized that the targeted institutions are linked to Iranian sanction evasion elsewhere and have no connection to The Bahamas or its licensed banks, including three Canadian-affiliated institutions operating in the country.
