Turkey economic data: Card payments hit 2.97 trillion TL in July

Turkey's economic indicators for July 2026 show significant activity in card payments and real estate. According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM), total card payments reached 2.97 trillion TL, marking a 37% annual increase. This growth was driven by credit cards, which accounted for 2.54 trillion TL of the total. Internet-based card payments rose by 34% to 908.9 billion TL, while contactless transactions saw a 44% surge in value.

In the real estate sector, the Central Bank of Turkey reported that the Housing Price Index (KFE) rose by 1.5% month-on-month in July, reaching 234.8. While nominal annual prices increased by 25%, the index saw a 5.1% real decrease when adjusted for inflation. Regional trends showed monthly increases in Istanbul (2.7%) and Ankara (2.2%), whereas Izmir experienced a 0.5% decrease. The New Tenant Rent Index also rose 1.9% monthly, with a 28.4% nominal annual increase and a 2.6% real decrease.

Additionally, the Central Bank updated its year-end inflation forecast for 2026, raising it to 28%.
