Central Bank of Türkiye reserves hit 5.5-month high of $189.3 billion
The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (TCMB) reported that its total reserves reached $189.3 billion for the week ending August 28, marking a 5.5-month high. This represents a $0.08 billion increase from the $188.5 billion recorded during the week of August 21.
The upward trend follows a period of volatility where reserves dropped to a low of $149.2 billion on June 26. While the current level is the highest since mid-March, it remains $28.9 billion below the historical peak of $218.2 billion reached in January 2026.
Data from the Institute of International Finance (IIF) suggests that increased risk appetite in global markets and capital inflows into emerging economies have supported the reserve accumulation processes of central banks in the region. The TCMB is scheduled to share detailed official reserve figures on Thursday, September 3.
