Central banks in Bolivia and Argentina report shifts in international reserves
Bolivia's net international reserves remained stable at $3.632 billion as of July 31, 2026, according to the Central Bank of Bolivia. The reserves experienced moderate fluctuations throughout the month, reaching a peak of $3.747 billion on July 10 and a low of $3.571 billion on July 24. Gold constitutes the majority of these reserves at 85.10% ($3.091 billion), providing a security cushion against international financial volatility.
In Argentina, the Central Bank's gross international reserves have reached approximately $49 billion, the highest level since 2019. This growth is driven by a 27% increase in agro-industrial, energy, and mining exports during the first half of 2026. While gross reserves include components not immediately available, net reserves have improved significantly from negative levels of nearly $11 billion in late 2023 to an estimated positive range of $7 billion to $10 billion.
