Central banks weigh interest rate decisions amid inflation uncertainty

Central banks are preparing for critical monetary policy decisions in September as inflation figures remain a primary concern. The Federal Reserve faces a complex landscape, as officials may have to decide on interest rates using incomplete inflation data. Specifically, the upcoming decision may occur without the official August Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) figures, which is the Fed's preferred metric. This uncertainty, combined with potential methodological revisions by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, creates volatility for risk assets like Bitcoin.

Simultaneously, the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of Japan (BoJ) are also under scrutiny. The ECB is considering a potential 0.25% rate hike following eurozone inflation reaching 3.3% in August. Meanwhile, the Bank of Japan is expected to review its current 1% rate. These global shifts in monetary policy are being driven by inflation levels that have exceeded previous estimates, impacting bond yields and global liquidity.
