Central Bohemia storms damage century-old willow in Čáslav

Severe storms and heavy rainfall hit parts of the Central Bohemian region on Friday, August 22, prompting firefighters to respond to over 120 weather-related incidents. In the Kutná Hora district, crews handled approximately 30 calls, including clearing fallen trees, pumping water from flooded basements and homes, and removing mud and water from roads.

In Čáslav, a storm caused significant damage to a willow tree estimated to be over a century old. While the tree had survived previous breaks in the past, this storm damaged a portion of the main trunk. Local residents expressed sadness over the loss of the landmark, though some suggest that if the owner prunes it correctly, the tree may still survive.
