Central Bohemian monuments see high turnout during free admission event

Fourteen state-run monuments in Central Bohemia offered free admission on Sunday as part of a Ministry of Culture initiative. The event saw high visitor numbers across the region, with many sites reporting that their pre-booked capacities were fully exhausted.

Točník and Žebrák castles utilized a different approach due to being exterior sites. Castellan Petr Zemánek noted that because they are outdoor objects, setting a fixed capacity was impractical. Visitors could join guided tours of 40 people every hour or explore freely without prior registration. Despite expectations of a midday slowdown, interest remained high throughout the afternoon.

Other participating locations included Karlštejn, Křivoklát, and Krakovec castles, as well as Konopiště, Veltrusy, Žleby, Březnice, Hořovice, Mnichovo Hradiště, and Mníšek pod Brdy chateaus. The Sázava Monastery and Hamousův statek in Zbečno also participated. A second date for free admission is scheduled for September 27.
