Central Bohemian Region sues Prague 6 over traffic restrictions

The Central Bohemian Region has filed a proposal with the Municipal Court in Prague to overturn a new traffic measure implemented by the Prague 6 district. The measure introduced one-way traffic on Na Krutci street during morning rush hours (7:00 to 9:00 AM) for non-residents traveling toward Veleslavín and Evropská street.

Regional officials argue that the decision, made without consultation with the region or neighboring municipalities like Nebušice and Přední Kopanina, has caused significant traffic chaos. Instead of improving flow, the restriction has reportedly shifted congestion to Horoměřická street and caused major delays for suburban bus lines 312, 316, and 356. Petr Borecký, the regional councilor for public transport, criticized the move as an unconsulted step that uses commuters as hostages in a pre-election struggle.

While Prague 6 officials defend the measure as a safety initiative based on studies, the region contends that the impact on public transport and surrounding arteries was not adequately analyzed prior to implementation. The region warns that continued delays may force commuters to switch from buses to cars, further increasing road congestion.
