Central California Women’s Facility faces sexual abuse allegations

An investigative series titled ‘We Are Jane Doe’ has documented allegations of sexual assault by guards against incarcerated women at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. The reporting highlights the experiences of 13 women who fought back against staff members at the massive complex, which houses approximately 2,000 people.

Aliksandria Prout, one of the women featured in the investigation, detailed her arrival at the facility following a three-year prison sentence for a nonviolent offense. She described harsh living conditions in the A-Yard housing unit, including freezing temperatures, hunger, and overcrowding, alongside instances of harassment by male staff.
