Central de Trabajadores de Cuba implements economic transformation plans

The Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC) is conducting assemblies and seminars to implement the nation’s 176 economic and social transformations. In Mayabeque, a provincial seminar was held to provide union leaders and workers with the theoretical and practical tools necessary to manage business transformations and participate in economic planning from the grassroots level.

These efforts align with directives from President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to ensure workers have a voice in the 2027 Economic Plan and Budget. For example, the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets (FCBC) approved a 20 percent increase in activity compared to previous expectations, aiming for revenues of nearly 7.4 billion pesos.

Participants noted that economic planning must account for challenges such as energy restrictions and U.S. sanctions. Discussions also focused on improving collective labor agreements, evaluating worker performance, and transitioning toward renewable energy sources to achieve greater self-sufficiency.
