Central Denmark Region to host public debate on future transport

The Central Denmark Region (Region Midtjylland) is organizing a large-scale conference titled ‘Tal om mobilitet i Midt’ on November 3 at the Musikhuset in Aarhus. The event aims to gather citizens, politicians, and experts to discuss ways to improve public transport and reduce road congestion.

The initiative is part of the development of a new regional mobility strategy. A primary goal of this strategy is to double the use of public transportation within the region. Officials expressed concern that current trends—characterized by increasing car usage and decreasing bus services—could lead to unsustainable congestion and the potential disappearance of public transport in certain areas.

Regional Council Chairman Anders G. Christensen emphasized the importance of listening to citizens to ensure public transport becomes an attractive everyday option. Claus Leick, chairman of Midttrafik, also noted the necessity of finding solutions that meet the diverse needs of both urban and rural areas.
