Central District Municipality warns of vehicle recycling policy
The Municipal Mayor's Office of the Central District (AMDC) has issued an urgent notice to owners of seized motorcycles and vehicles. Any units that remain unclaimed in municipal lots for more than 90 days may undergo a final disposal process for recycling, in accordance with current legal regulations.
Coordinated by the Urban Mobility Management office, the measure aims to organize municipal lots, reduce the environmental impact of abandoned units, and free up parking spaces occupied by scrap or abandoned vehicles. Marcos Carrasco, manager of Urban Mobility, stated that the process is intended to mitigate environmental issues and parking shortages.
Vehicles seized by the National Directorate of Roads and Transport (DNVT), Municipal Police, or Urban Mobility Management will undergo an evaluation and inventory before being considered for recycling. Officials clarified that exceeding the 90-day limit does not trigger automatic recycling; specific administrative and legal procedures must be completed first.
