Central Europe geopolitical shifts and Russian hybrid warfare threats

The Svatopluk association recently held an international conference in Prague titled ‘Central Europe, BRICS and the Global South.’ The event featured speakers including former Czech President Miloš Zeman, former Slovak Prime Minister Ján Čarnogurský, and representatives from research institutions in China, Nigeria, Iran, and Serbia. Discussions focused on the shift toward multipolarity, the perceived decline of the West, and potential new trade and cultural opportunities between Central Europe and BRICS nations.

Separately, concerns regarding Russian hybrid warfare in Europe are intensifying. Experts have warned of potential sabotage against facilities supporting Ukraine and threats to NATO infrastructure. In response, the European Parliament has moved toward strengthening protections for European elections against foreign interference and disinformation campaigns. While some officials advocate for stricter social media regulation to combat bot networks, critics express concern that such measures could infringe upon freedom of speech and lead to the centralization of information control.
