Central Europe weather forecast and seasonal transitions

Central Europe is experiencing a transition in seasonal weather patterns. Forecasts for the upcoming weekend indicate mild autumn conditions with daytime highs between 13 and 19 degrees Celsius, though morning temperatures may drop to as low as minus 2 degrees Celsius. A significant weather shift is expected around October 18, as cold air from Scandinavia may cause temperatures to drop by 10 degrees or more.

On a broader scale, meteorologists warn of a potential ‘super’ El Niño event, which could lead to increasingly extreme and unpredictable weather patterns globally, including the Carpathian Basin, with impacts expected to persist into 2027. The World Meteorological Organization notes a high probability of severe consequences through February.

Additionally, the European Union will observe the transition from summer to winter time on October 25, 2026. Clocks will be set back one hour at 3:00 AM to 2:00 AM. While digital devices will update automatically, manual adjustment is required for analog clocks. Discussions regarding the permanent abolition of seasonal time changes continue within the EU, though no final decision has been reached.
