Central Florida weather shifts from dry conditions to weekend storm threat

Central Florida is experiencing a temporary reprieve from high humidity and frequent storms. Thursday and Friday are expected to bring drier air and breezy conditions, with northeast winds reaching 15 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. While rainfall chances remain low at 20% to 30%, coastal areas face high risks of life-threatening rip currents and hazardous boating conditions due to rough surf.

Weather patterns are projected to shift significantly heading into the weekend as moisture builds and an upper-level low moves across the region. Forecasters predict scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms on both Saturday and Sunday, with rain chances increasing to 70% or 80%.

Some storms may become intense, capable of producing frequent lightning, wind gusts between 40 and 50 mph, and locally heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches. This could lead to minor flooding in areas receiving repeated heavy rain. Temperatures are expected to remain seasonable, with highs in the upper 80s.
