Central Greece Confirms Beach Water Safety for Kamenes Vourla and Mandoudi
The Regional Government of Central Greece, together with the Association of Municipalities of Central Greece and the municipalities of Kamenes Vourla and Mandoudi‑Lake‑Agia Anna, issued a joint statement to clarify public concerns after private water‑sample results were released without official certification. They reaffirmed that official testing under the National Bathing Water Monitoring Programme, which follows EU Directive 2006/7/EC, has consistently classified the local swimming beaches as suitable for public use.
The authorities stressed that official beach‑water quality ratings are based on multiple samples and statistical analysis over several bathing seasons, not on isolated measurements. They have ordered repeat sampling at the exact locations reported by the private party and will provide full primary data and laboratory analyses to ensure transparency. Citizens are urged to rely on the published official information from the competent public agencies.
