Central Japan Railway adds ice cup machine at Shin Osaka Shinkansen

Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) installed a Fuji Electric FFS107WFXU1 vending machine on Platform 27 of Shin Osaka Station on the Tokaido Shinkansen line, effective August 7. The machine sells 220‑yen cups of Rock Ice Glass ice, stocked exclusively with ice cubes, and accepts cashless payment via IC cards or bar codes.

The addition addresses the lack of onboard beverage sales on Shinkansen trains, allowing passengers to keep purchased drinks cold during the two‑and‑a‑half‑hour journeys between Osaka, Tokyo, and Fukuoka. Rock Ice Glass has already been a popular item at station kiosks, and the new platform vending point provides travelers with easy access just before boarding.
