Central Java districts step up tax compliance to curb revenue loss

In Pemalang Regency, acting regent Nurkholes met with Central Java Regional Revenue Office head Muhammad Masrofi to discuss updating motor‑vehicle tax data down to the village level. He said, “Pendataan harus benar-benar diperbarui hingga tingkat desa,” stressing that accurate records of missing, damaged or inactive vehicles are needed to set realistic tax targets and reduce arrears.

In Batu City, revenue office chief M. Nur Adhim launched a field campaign to register about 620 villas that were not yet in the taxpayer database. He explained, “Kalau hanya menunggu mereka datang ke kantor, susah karena hampir tidak ada yang datang,” and noted that the effort includes digitalising property‑tax notices and cooperating with local police to enforce compliance. Both initiatives aim to strengthen coordination between provincial and local tax authorities, improve compliance, and channel tax revenues into local development projects.
