Central Java hosts mass wedding program for 62 couples
Sixty-two couples in Central Java participated in the ‘Mantu Santri’ or mass wedding program held at the Great Mosque of Central Java (MAJT) in Semarang on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The initiative provides participants with legal and religious marriage status, along with additional support to foster independent households.
In addition to the wedding ceremony, the couples received honeymoon packages and initial business capital to encourage economic independence. The program is a collaborative effort involving the Mutiara Al-Fatah Foundation, Rabitah Al-Islamiyah, the Central Java Provincial Government, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), and other partners.
Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs HR Muhammad Syafii noted that the program simplifies marriage administration and ensures access to civil identity documents for children born from these unions. Following similar events in Jakarta and Bogor, the program is planned to expand to Maluku with a target of 500 couples.
