Central Java implements poverty reduction and TBC diagnostic initiatives

The Central Java Provincial Government is implementing new strategies to address poverty and public health issues within the region. To combat poverty, the province is expanding the ‘One Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) One Assisted Village’ program. This initiative aims to move away from general interventions by assigning specific government departments to act as cross-sector coordinators for the most impoverished villages. Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maemoen emphasized the need for precise mapping down to the village and sub-district levels to ensure targeted assistance and updated data accuracy.

Simultaneously, the provincial government is enhancing tuberculosis (TBC) management by equipping 884 community health centers (Puskesmas) with improved diagnostic tools. This measure is designed to accelerate the detection, treatment, and prevention of the infectious disease. The initiative includes providing necessary laboratory and testing equipment to support early diagnosis and reduce transmission rates. Vice Governor Maemoen noted that the program involves monitoring progress in coordination with the Ministry of Health and utilizing village-level cadres to manage cases.
