Central Java promotes water tourism and coastal development

Central Java is seeing a rise in water-based tourism, with the provincial Tourism Office noting increased visits to springs, waterfalls, and beaches since June. Recommended destinations include Umbul Ponggok in Klaten, the Grojogan Sewu waterfall in Karanganyar, the volcanic Telaga Warna in Dieng, and Menganti Beach in Kebumen. While weather conditions have supported these activities, BMKG has advised caution due to predicted waves of 1.5 to 4.0 meters in southern Central Java waters.

In Semarang, efforts are underway to transform the Tambak Lorok coastal area into a more organized tourist destination. Through the Festival Bahari Limolas Hebat 2026, supported by PLN Indonesia Power, local residents participated in cultural performances and environmental competitions, such as garden arrangement contests. These initiatives aim to highlight local culinary traditions and improve the coastal environment to foster community togetherness and tourism potential.
