Central Java pushes 4.2 million MSMEs toward export markets

The Central Java Provincial Government is actively working to elevate 4.2 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across 35 regencies and cities. The initiative aims to transform these businesses from micro-scale operations into small and medium enterprises capable of entering international export markets.

During the 2026 Entrepreneurship Excellence Bursa at Diponegoro University, Governor Ahmad Luthfi emphasized that MSMEs are the backbone of the regional economy. He noted that approximately 97.95 percent of the region's 4.2 million MSMEs are currently micro-scale. To support this transition, the provincial government provides assistance through the Department of Cooperatives and SMEs, including programs like Akademi Balatkop and Hetero Business Leap to improve digital technology use, product development, and marketing.

In a related effort to expand market reach, 72 MSMEs from Central Java participated in the Inacraft exhibition in Jakarta. Vice Governor Taj Yasin Maemoen highlighted the event as a strategic opportunity to map products for international markets, including Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. The participating businesses represent various sectors, including fashion, crafts, and traditional batik innovations.
