Central Kalimantan authorities arrest illegal logging financier

Authorities in Central Kalimantan have arrested LF (also known as BG), a financier suspected of illegal logging activities, after a three-month manhunt. The arrest took place on September 6, 2026, in the Kotawaringin Timur Regency by a joint team from the Kalimantan Forestry Law Enforcement Agency and the Central Kalimantan Regional Police.

The investigation began following a forest product circulation operation on June 6, 2026, during which officials discovered approximately 70 logs arranged on a raft and a timber processing site equipped with a circular saw in the Terantang Hilir village area.

LF is accused of financing and employing workers to process timber within forest areas. Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Palangka Raya office for questioning and has been officially named a suspect.
