Central Kalimantan Governor's office bureau building destroyed by fire

A major fire broke out at the Bureau of People's Welfare (Kesra) building within the Central Kalimantan Governor's office complex in Palangka Raya during the early hours of Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The blaze, which was reported around 02:10 WIB, heavily damaged the facility, consuming nearly all rooms including those of the Bureau Head, division heads, sub-division heads, and staff areas. While firefighting teams from both government and private sectors worked to contain the flames, the extent of material and document loss is currently unknown.

Central Kalimantan Governor Agustiar Sabran and Regional Secretary Linae Victoria Aden visited the site to monitor the situation. Governor Sabran stated that the bureau would be temporarily relocated following an evaluation. Authorities have not yet determined the cause or the exact origin of the fire, and a full investigation by the police is required before officials can assess the remaining property and documents.
