Indonesia deploys masks and oxygen rooms to combat forest fire haze

Authorities and private entities in Indonesia are intensifying health protection measures as forest and land fires (Karhutla) cause widespread haze. In Central Kalimantan, the provincial government is preparing 500,000 masks, including N95, KN95, and KN94 types, to distribute to the public. The Palangka Raya City Government has also established oxygen rooms in 11 community health centers (puskesmas) to assist residents suffering from respiratory issues.

In addition to government efforts, PT Pupuk Kalimantan Timur has distributed 76,400 masks in coordination with the Ministry of Environment. These supplies are being sent to Sumatra, West Kalimantan, and South Kalimantan to reach affected populations. Local legal offices have also participated by distributing masks to employees and citizens in Palangka Raya to mitigate the impact of declining air quality.
