Central Macedonia police report three traffic deaths in June 2026

The General Regional Police Directorate of Central Macedonia released its June 2026 road‑safety figures. The region recorded 28 traffic accidents, down from 36 the previous year, including three fatal crashes, two serious injuries and 23 minor incidents. A total of 37 people were injured: three killed, two seriously hurt and 32 with light injuries.

Police documented 4,950 traffic violations during the month. Speeding accounted for the largest share, with 2,761 breaches of the speed limit. Other common offences were failure to wear seat belts (636), not using a helmet (310), driving without a licence (225), driving under the influence (184) and use of mobile phones while driving (76). The police also reiterated safety advice, urging drivers to obey traffic rules, wear seat belts and helmets, avoid alcohol, and refrain from using phones while driving.

The data compare with June 2025, when the region saw 36 accidents, five fatalities and 52 injured persons, indicating a modest improvement in overall numbers but a persistent issue with speeding and related violations.
