Central Papua officials address regional development and disaster recovery
Officials in Central Papua are addressing various regional challenges involving infrastructure, public services, and disaster recovery. Vice Governor Deinas Geley visited Paniai to inspect schools and recently toured the Enarotali area following a devastating fire that killed 11 people and destroyed dozens of buildings. Geley stated the government would provide assistance to victims based on available capacity.
In education, the provincial government plans to construct boarding schools in remote areas to improve access for students facing transportation and distance barriers. Meanwhile, Governor Meki Fritz Nawipa visited the Tenedagi Health Center in Deiyai to assess healthcare services and encourage medical staff to maintain high standards of care despite geographic challenges.
In Kepulauan Yapen, DPR RI Commission XIII member Yan Permenas Mandenas inspected the development of the Mariadei Fishing Village. Mandenas emphasized that infrastructure projects must provide tangible economic benefits to local coastal communities and fishermen rather than serving as mere physical monuments.
