NYPD seeks suspect in Central Park sexual assault

The New York Police Department has released surveillance images to assist in identifying a suspect who sexually assaulted a 39-year-old woman in Central Park on Saturday, October 24. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near East 67th Street and Fifth Avenue, where the victim was reportedly threatened with a knife and forced into a wooded area.

The suspect, described as being in his 30s, was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and a black backpack. He fled the scene toward the west side of the park after a bystander alerted authorities via 911. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

This incident marks the fifth sexual assault reported within the Central Park Precinct since the beginning of the year, an increase from three cases recorded during the same period last year. Local residents have expressed growing concerns regarding safety in the park after dark.
