Central Prison to launch vocational training program
The Ministry of Interior is launching a comprehensive vocational training program at the Central Prison to assist young inmates and detainees in acquiring professional skills. This initiative aims to facilitate their reintegration into society and support their transition into the workforce following release.
Operating under a cooperation protocol signed by the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Education, and the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the program is scheduled to begin on October 15, 2026. The 25-week curriculum is designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical application, totaling approximately 550 hours of instruction. Participants will receive 20 hours of practical training and two hours of theoretical instruction per week.
The training covers five specific technical fields: motor vehicle technology, welding, furniture manufacturing, heating and sanitary plumbing, and electrical installation. The program intends to transform prison workshops into structured, certifiable on-the-job training environments guided by master instructors.
Beyond technical expertise, the program focuses on developing work discipline, occupational health and safety awareness, and psychological development. Upon successful completion and assessment, eligible participants will be directed toward professional certification processes to enhance their employment prospects.
