Central Queensland Beef Roads Program completes first project
The first early works project under the $500 million Central Queensland Beef Roads Program has been completed. A three-kilometre section of the Clermont-Alpha Road, located north of Alpha, is now sealed.
The program aims to progressively upgrade and seal priority sections of nine strategically important freight corridors across Central and Western Queensland. These corridors include the Clermont–Alpha Road, May Downs Road, Kilcummin–Diamond Downs Road, Alpha–Tambo Road, Dawson Developmental Road, and various sections of the Fitzroy Developmental Road and Glenroy Road.
Officials stated that the improvements are intended to enhance transport efficiency, safety, and resilience for the beef industry. The upgrades are expected to reduce transport costs, improve market access, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of the agricultural sector. Construction is currently ongoing on other sections, including Clermont-Alpha Road south of Clermont and the Alpha–Tambo Road south of Alpha.
