Central Railway to launch special ticket-checking campaign in October

Central Railway is launching a special ticket-checking campaign from October 1 to October 31, 2026, to prevent the misuse of concessions and reservation quotas. During this period, officials will verify ticket validity, identity proofs, and documents establishing eligibility for various travel categories.

Under the new enforcement measures, if a single ticket is booked for multiple passengers, at least one passenger must carry an original identity proof. Failure to produce the required documentation may result in all passengers on that PNR being classified as traveling without a valid ticket, leading to fines and other penalties under railway rules.

The drive will also scrutinize unreserved tickets, e-passes, and Privilege Ticket Orders (PTOs). Ticket-checking staff are authorized to use the TTE app to verify the authenticity of all ticket types. The initiative aims to curb revenue loss and ensure compliance with reservation policies during the festive season.
